Configurable 3D CAD Downloads for CD Couplings

The configurable 3D CAD downloads, available at www.zero-max.com, aide selection and configuration of the exact composite disc – CD – coupling solution for coupling applications. To select the right CD coupling the system designer enters the coupling size or max torque capacity and the two bore sizes. The program then will render the configured coupling for Interactive viewing, which can be downloaded in a multitude of CAD formats to be imported to the drawing. These CD couplings feature zero backlash precision and high torsional stiffness with high reverse loads and positioning requirements. Manufactured of RoHS compliant materials containing no banned substances, they are designed with clamp style hubs for increased torque capacity on shafts without using keyways.

Gripping Capabilities with Built-in Controller

The Smart Gripper, an intelligent closed-loop direct-drive gripper, is designed to deliver gripping capabilities with a programming interface. It offers integration with most commercially-available robots. The gripper features robotic finger positioning, adjustable grip force, and requires no external controller. Its gripping fingers can be designed by the user. It is operated using 24VDC discrete signals for use with any robot controller. The user pre-programs motions into its non-volatile memory, for recall later, triggered by the robot controller's output lines. Up to 32 programs can be selected using the gripper's five input lines. It can also provide status back to the robot controller using the gripper's three output lines.

3-Axis CNC Routers for Sheet Work

The SR Series Sheet Routers provide capacity in lighter-weight, gantry-style, 3-axis CNC machines. The SR-100, with 100"×52"×8" travels, accommodates 4'×8' sheets of material; the larger SR-200, with 148"×76"×8" travels, handles sheets up to 6'×12'. Both machines accept ISO standard G-code programming through Haas CNC control. The machines are equipped with a 24,000 rpm, continuous 5 hp 30-taper spindle for cutting and drilling plastics, sheet metals, and other light materials. An optional 10 pocket automatic tool changer is available. Other high-productivity options include high-speed machining with look-ahead, a hard disc drive with Ethernet interface, a remote jog handle, and full fourth axis capability.

Virtual Reality

The 3D Shape Inspector software enables mold makers to turn a machining center or milling/turning machine into a virtual CMM by providing rapid verification of workpiece form and accuracy without removing the part from the machine. The operator receives instant part quality feedback for immediate part rework and printout of simple reports. On-machine measurement saves time in removing the part for inspection in a lab and then refixturing and resetting the part whenever additional machining is required. It can be installed on the machine tool’s CNC or on a separate PC and used with machine tools with fourth- and fifth-axis capabilities.

Handheld Laser Meter for Versatile Applications

The Vega, an advanced handheld laser meter with color display for laser beam measurement, is available with digital or analog needle display. It offers an illuminated display screen with backlit navigation buttons viewable in all lighting conditions. The 320"×240" display, with 16mm digits, provides legibility. The screen lets operators identify trends or warning signals; colors can be optimized for use with laser protection glasses. The Vega is compatible with all Ophir thermopile, photodiode, and pyroelectric smart heads. Its design includes rubberized bumpers and a stable kickstand. The system lets operators log every point at up to 4,000 Hz with pyro heads, and includes non-volatile data storage of up to 200,000 points. The user interface includes a laser tuning screen and power and energy log, with USB and RS-232 output to the user’s choice of statistics packages on a personal computer. New software features include power or energy density units, min/max limits, graphing, attenuation scaling, and more.
