American Metal & Technology, Inc. Plans Expansion of Manufacturing Operations
American Metal & Technology, Inc., Pell City, AL, a manufacturer of high-precision casting and machined products, plans to build additional facilities at its Langfang, China manufacturing center. This expansion will increase the annual capacity for casting products by 50 percent, from 2,400 tons to 3,600 tons, and enhance the capabilities for the development and manufacturing of circuit boards.
The company will invest $3 million in the new development and will include two buildings totaling 10,900 m2. It anticipates construction, equipment installation, staff training, and trial production to be finished in December of 2008, with full production starting in January 2009. This expansion will make American Metal & Technology the first company in China to have its mold design, precision casting, and machining facility all in one factory.
This expansion represents the completion of the second phase of construction on the 30,291 m2 of land in Langfang, China that the company purchased the rights to use in 2004. In 2005 the company completed construction of the initial 5,000 m2 production facility that houses machining equipment with output capability for a million parts per month.

Torch Stands Up to Harsh Conditions
The Tough Gun Self-Shielded Torch is built to withstand harsh welding environments with minimal downtime or cost for parts changeover. The self-shielded torch is available in 300-, 400- and 500-amp air-cooled models. Each is compatible with the manufacturer’s Tough Lock Contact Tip System and the Quick Load Liner. The torch includes a replaceable contact tip holder that protects the threads on the aluminum-armored gooseneck that often become worn as a result of repetitive contact tip changes. It also minimizes the need to purchase, stock, and replace the necks. Consumables include heavy-duty contact tips and extra heavy-duty style tips. The addition of high-temperature resistant tip insulators provides extra protection to extend consumable life and lower downtime for changeover.

RAM Furnaces Provide Production and Energy Efficiency
A full line of Removable Atmosphere Muffle – RAM – furnaces provide heat treating and cooling under protective atmosphere. By using a cart-mounted portable retort which can be rolled into and out of the furnace chamber, RAM furnaces offer production and energy efficiency. Using a spare retort/assembly cart, one workload can be heat treated while an earlier workload is cooling outside the furnace. Other features include a gasketed plug door for a gas tight seal, quick-disconnect flexible atmosphere lines, and a double pivot-holding door which seals the furnace chamber when the muffle is removed. Designed for operation up to 2,050° F, RAM furnaces are manufactured in eight chamber sizes: 5"×5"×12" to 10"×10"×36" and are available in single- and dual-chamber models. Options available include thermocouples and pyrometers for continuous monitoring of the workload temperature after the muffle has been removed. Units may be adapted for use with flammable atmosphere with the addition of safety equipment. All furnaces come with digital temperature controls and are completely pre-wired, test fired, and shipped ready for connection to user's power and atmosphere supply.

Micro-abrasive Blaster Improves Flow Consistency
The AccuFlo abrasive blaster is equipped with Simoom Technology – a system of mixing air and abrasive to improve flow consistency. The result is control over the volume of powder flowing through the machine. This gives it flexibility, a wide range of applications, as well as increased powder flow to cut processing times. The machine features an ergonomically-designed handpiece for comfort, with fewer wear points. A media tank features a clear top for checking the powder level. Easy-to-read LCD counters keep track of blast cycles and hours of use, providing maintenance milestones. An open design with color-coded air lines and connectors facilitate regular maintenance.
