Walter has extended its Thrill·tec™ TC645 Supreme orbital drill/thread mill product range to cover the metric dimensions from M4x0.5 to M20x1.5, as well as UNF 8 to UNF 3/4. These cutting tools can drill the core hole, chamfer and thread mill in one operation.
With the expansion of the Thrill·tec™ TC645 Supreme range, end users are now able to benefit from the exceptional efficiency of this 3-in-1 function for producing more thread dimensions. The longer paths of the machining program, which are common for large workpieces, now only have to be traveled once instead of three times. This benefit reduces non-productive time by two thirds.
The left-hand cutting tool is appropriate for milling blind-hole and through-hole threads. The tool achieves thread depths of 2.0 and 2.5 x the nominal diameter (DN). The thread milling cutter is suitable for universal application in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and heat-resistant super alloys with a hardness up to 48 HRC (ISO P, M, K, N and S material groups).
The high-performance WB10TJ grade provides the best performance in many different materials. The tool's face-side milling geometry is for core hole creation and chamfering. A -20° helix angle is perfect for chip removal. The shank is produced per the DIN 6535 HA standard.
The Thrill·tec™ TC645 Supreme features integrated internal coolant, which enables reliable chip removal, especially with a high feed per tooth, extends tool life and ensures that blind-holes and through-holes are machined precisely and reliably.
The cutter reduces the number of tool positions and the tool change time, and the high level of machining stability maximizes process reliability, according to the company.
