Streamline Your Shop's Metal 3D Printing Workflow

Renishaw has launched its next-generation Build Processor (NxG BP), a new software tool developed with Materialise to make metal 3D printing faster and easier. This update bridges the gap between design software and printing hardware, allowing users to send files directly to their machines. By removing manual steps, the system reduces the risk of human error and saves valuable setup time.

"We've worked closely with users to understand where the bottlenecks are in their AM workflows," said Ben Diaz, product manager at Renishaw. "NxG BP enables swim lane laser control, integrated inspector tools, implicit modelling support and compatibility with the RenAM 500 series of machines. Ultimately, customers will have a more intuitive and efficient way to get from design to print."

A major highlight of the software is the "Swim Lane" feature, which manages how multiple lasers work together simultaneously. It intelligently organizes the laser movements to prevent them from interfering with one another, ensuring that metal parts are stronger and more consistent. This automation allows for higher-quality production while cutting down on the total time it takes to finish a build.

To help users avoid mistakes, the software includes a built-in "Inspector" tool that checks the print plan for errors before the machine even starts. Previously, operators had to jump between different programs to verify their work, but this integrated approach allows for real-time quality checks in one place. This ensures that complex designs are printed correctly the first time, saving both time and expensive materials.

This collaboration also makes professional 3D printing more affordable by offering a simplified licensing process through Renishaw. By bundling the necessary tools together, companies can lower their software costs while gaining more control over their production. Overall, the NxG BP is a significant step forward for manufacturers looking to scale up their 3D printing capabilities with less hassle.
