Utilizing an opposed twin-spindle and tool-spindle configuration, this machine processes everything from standard lathe work to complex gear cutting in a single setup.

The machine shrinks its overall footprint by approximately 30% compared to conventional multi-tasking models. Despite this compact footprint, it retains the rigid bed structures and thermal displacement controls of premium, high-tier series, allowing job shops to hold tight tolerances on varied materials without dedicating massive square footage to a new machine.

Cutting Setup Times for High-Mix Short Runs

For shops, part variety requires frequent tool changes. The new system tackles this with an expanded Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) capacity:

• Massive Tool Storage: Storing 30 tools as standard -- and up to 60 tools optionally -- the high-capacity ATC allows operators to keep standard packages loaded, slashing setup and changeover frequencies between distinct part runs.
• Slewing-Free Tool Changes: An innovative magazine layout eliminates the need to slew the tool spindle during swaps, speeding up tool-to-tool times by 14% over previous designs.
• Expanded Working Envelope: By shortening the tool spindle by 15%, the internal workspace gains significant clearance. The right spindle moves freely even when the X-axis sits at its origin, wiping out unnecessary retraction movements and dropping cycle times.

Unattended Operation and Automation

Transitioning to autonomous driving is simplified through built-in automation options. The machine supports continuous bar machining via an integrated parts catcher and discharge conveyor system. Additionally, an automatic tool setter measures tool wear and dimensions inline, preventing machining errors and protecting expensive workpieces during unmanned operation.
