New Touchscreen CNC Knee Mill Fits Single Or 3-Phase Shops

Kent Industrial USA has updated its KTM-4VKF-E CNC knee mill with the newly released ACU-RITE MillPwr CT control, giving shops a large-capacity manual-to-CNC knee mill paired with a modern touchscreen control built to shorten the CNC learning curve rather than extend it.

The KTM-4VKF-E pairs a rugged, hand-scraped knee mill platform with the MillPwr CT, which replaces the previous-generation MillPwr G2 control on this model. The new control brings a modern touchscreen interface, conversational programming, file import capability and full G-code support to the machine, letting operators move seamlessly between manual DRO-style operation and CNC programming without retraining on a new workflow. Customizable screen layouts and an intuitive operating structure are designed to get new users productive from day one, while experienced CNC programmers get the full G-code environment they expect.

Mechanically, the KTM-4VKF-E is unchanged: a 3 HP AC-frequency drive head delivers 60–4,500 RPM across high and low gear ranges, with automatic spindle direction reversal when switching ranges so operators aren't manually resetting direction mid-job. The 12" x 50" hardened and ground table (Hrc-52) rides on solid box ways on both the saddle and column, and the knee, saddle and ram all carry generous travel -- 17.25" on the Z-axis and 17" on the Y-axis -- for handling larger parts than a standard 3-series knee mill. Three-axis absolute encoder glass scales keep manual and CNC positioning honest, and a built-in engraving feature and DXF file import let shops pull geometry straight from CAD without reprogramming by hand.

Perhaps most useful for shops with mixed power infrastructure: the KTM-4VKF-E runs on either single-phase or 3-phase power without a phase converter, a feature that has made it popular with smaller shops and satellite facilities that don't have 3-phase service on hand.

Standard features include USB drive support and a centralized automatic lubrication system with metered check-valves. Optional accessories include a Z-axis power feed, air power drawbar, flood coolant system, riser block and angle-lock vise.

The KTM-4VKF-E is part of Kent USA's broader CNC Knee Mill lineup, which also includes the 3VSF, 3VKF and 5VKF-E models, giving shops a clear upgrade path as capacity needs grow.
